Love In the Time of Cowbell

Ashley and I recently went on a most important quest. For hard days and nights we scourged our itunes playlist and the internet to create the most holiest of grails of mixes: the ultimate cowbell mix. It was our goal to make a mix of songs with the most and the best cowbell. It turns out to be one hell of a mix.

As a Valentine's day present to all of you, I'm posting the playlist here now. I'll put it on the databus soon, but for now enjoy its glories as best you can on the sexiest of days: download it, find some of the songs in your collection and live the cowbell of glory.

1. The Beatles: A Hard Day's Night
2. Dead or Alive: You Spin Me Right Round
3. Blood, Sweat and Tears: Spinning Wheel
4. Radiohead: Electioneering
5. Strawberry Alarm Clock: Incense and Peppermints
6. CCR: Down on the Corner
7. The Rolling Stones: Honky Tonk Women
8. Soundgarden: Spoonman
9. Lou Reed: Vicious
10. Grateful Dead: Touch of Grey
11. Tom Jones: She's a Lady
12. Bruce Springsteen: Darlington County
13. Pavement: Silence Kit
14. Marvin Gaye: Got to Give It Up (Part 1)
15. Carlos Santana: Evil Ways
16. Talking Heads: And She Was
17. Michael Jackson: Don't Stop Till You Get Enough
18. Blue Oyster Cult: Don't Fear the Reaper

Of course, the last song and the Will Ferrell video are the inspirations for this mix. Here is a home recording of that I found on the youtube:

Suggestions? Additions? Ashley and I heartily invite you all to make your own cowbell mix. Many more songs than these eighteen incorporate the hollow metal dreamworld that cowbell takes you to. We are also making a complementary mix entitled "We want the bell" which features songs we wish had cowbell in them. Feel the bell!

Oh lordy do I love Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give it Up". That suggestion validifies your entire list and I will henceforth try to corall all of those songs onto my ipod. I suck at spelling?
