CD Party 2008 - An Email Reiteration
Folks,
You should all know the gist of this by now, but I'll elaborate for great justice! The end of the year is fast approaching and the weather grows cold. Yet our musical desire burns with intense heat! Come and be festive. We will dance to feline songs while drinking from small, wooden cups off of shark plate.
That's right, its the end of the year CD Party where we show off our impeccable taste in music and list making. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a CD with your 20 favorite songs of 2008. The songs can be all singles released in 2008 if you're me (which doesn't make sense), or it can have any songs released in 2008, or it can just be 20 songs you listened to and really liked in 2008. Equal opportunity music snobs is our motto. Track 1 of the cd should be song 20 (or the least of the 20 songs) and end at song 1 (the best comes last to generate suspense). Otherwise, the rest of the CD is up to you, but I do hope we get less CDs from a ziplock bag this time around.
If you're coming with a CD, let me know by December 10th so I can let everybody know how many CDs they need to bring. If you, or anyone I forgot/you want to bring, want come without bringing music, there's really no deadline to RSVP.
As to the actual date and time of the shindig, its Saturday December 20th at 7. Its at my place. Bring beers, and foods, and smiles.
-Jeff

Bit Homesick.
I was sleeping somewhat uneasily and as I awoke I was thinking about how I hadn't been home in a while. Shaking the sleep from my head I realized that I had been thinking of my home in Westford. It strange how sometimes you can miss the physical/spacial dimensions of a place.
Matt, Ash, you guys ever miss Shelly Lane or Butternut? The houses themselves I mean.
This is the time of year I get a little weird- I won't really see the sun again til spring. Ah well.

For the Non-Facebookers: A Fark Headline
Laura Bush says she showed Michelle Obama - a graduate of Princeton and Harvard - White House closets, because those are the things "women are interested in."
Yup. Years from now 2001-2008 will be known as America's Stupid Years.

Jump to the rhythm, jump!
www.mtvmusic.com is the most glorious site I've been shown in the past 24 hours. Music videos upon music videos free at your finger tips! I've watched videos by the KLF, C+C Music Factory, Violent Femmes, and I'm just getting started. They claim to have every video in their inventory online for your searching pleasure. Even if I'm not the person breaking this to you, it needs reiteration. This site is sweet.
Everybody dance now!

CD Party: The Forerunner
My peepest of peeps, I need your help! The annual CD Party of Personal Preferance and Superiority is fast approaching, but the actual date is in question. You see, Merry Merry Christmas is on a Thursday this year, which is a problem due to it being quite a few days after the weekend (which is when the party would normally be thrown). So what I need to know from you guys is this: What day works best for YOU? The weekend before (19-21) or Tuesday the 23rd? Or does this become the first year with the party after Santa comes (the next day, Friday)?
I want everyone to be able to make it so I'm trying to tap your all early to ensure perfect attendance. The official invitation will be sent out a little before Thanksgiving to a larger group, but the posters and readers of this blog take priority so its your opinion I'm asking. If you know someone else I would probably invite has a conflict you can let me know about that too, though.
Help me, you're my only hope ourbloggy-wan.

of Montreal Skeletal Lamping
I decided to order the new of Montreal album on vinyl. It was pretty expensive ($27 with shipping), but it was a double album (in vinyl format), came with a bunch of cool shit (see below), got here early (it doesn't come out until Tuesday), and had a code to download the album online. I'll put it up in the databusplace.com ASAP for your listening pleasure.
(NB: this is not our house. And the album only came with the horse and two stickers, a little poster and an airhead)

Been a bit down.
Started a little over a week ago. Sept 11th's always rough around here. I got my annual call from an Australian radio show wanting to ask me what it was like to go through 9-11 and what's it like to live in New York now.
The following morning I talked to my and we wound up getting a big fight. She said a lot of bat-shit crazy stuff. I called her on it. We yelled. We didn't speak for a week. Then when I called recently it felt strange and wrong. Like we shouldn't talk.
Ginny and I can't seem to get our shit together to write thank yous. I'm not sure why. I had it all planned out- but instead I've written maybe five total. I feel like a shit, but when I look at them I just want to do anything else. I'm not sure why.
I'm worried that America and the rest of the world too is getting dumber. Everywhere I look it seems like a little bit more of science has eroded away and what was once fact known to everyone now needs to be defended from irrational philistines. Sarah Palin's not helping on this score. I'd love for McCain to come out and say just one thing that would set me at ease and wouldn't concede anything politically- just one thing like- 'I, Senator John McCain, accept that age of the Earth is best measured in billions of years. That man and dinosaur never coexisted (although that would have been cool) and, of course, that the world is globular.' Its a sad state of affairs when I'd really like an American to say such basic things.
Ah well. Could be worse. Could be Huckabee/Palin.
And did any of you read this? http://www.nysun.com/business/default-swaps-may-be-next-in-credit-crisis/86312/ The NY Sun is a crazy right wing rag- but I've heard whispers of this before. On the by and by its like a Ghost town at the hotel right now- well kind of. We have a lot European travelers but ordinarily we're chalk full of wall street guys. Not these days.
Its scary and getting scarier.
So what're you guys doing for halloween?

bungalow bill
hay guyz,
it's been a while since we all met up, here on the interwebs (what's with the collective laziness? is it ennui again?) or in IRL, so needless to say i am PRETTY EXCITED about scott and ginny's upcoming nuptials. i am not excited about the 8 hour drive to said nuptials, but whatevs. we're bringing a lot of snacks and matt's made imixes up the wazoo so we'll be fine (if we don't die! god i hate driving! why is death out to get me!) we got two kinds of kettle chips in honor of the drive, but broke into and ate half of one of the bags today for lunch.
i am bringing a shitton of belts to this clambake, so if anyone's in need, see me.
bring your love of everything (and your best poisons).
(this is the first image the comes up in google images if you type in 'scott and ginny's wedding. not a "good" sign.)
xoxo

Whoa, whoa, whoa, let me get this straight...
Are you telling me Criss Angel is in fact not imbued with magical powers? Nor does he routinely risk his life? That he isn't a sorcerer but rather just a liar! A liar who plays 'tricks' on his audience! My faith in magic is shaken! Shaken I say!

When I first moved to New York
When I first moved to New York I said that the people here were fatter than I was used to. Everyone told me I was crazy... turns out I was just perceptive.
Massachusetts, baby, third thinest state in the nation! (And now that Matt and Ashley have left Ct, I think we might move back into second.)

New Acquisitions
So, Ashley and I moved last week. Part of moving is getting to know the area. Part of getting to know the area is getting to know the record stores around. And let me tell you, there are some sweet record stores around here (Greenfield, Amherst, Northampton). The following are pictorial representations of the albums we picked up. Check it out!
