I am so freaking sick of hearing about Tim Russert- yes he died unexpectedly and that's sad. Yes, he is famous and a colleague of many of the reporters writing about him, so to them its sort of personal... but I am so sick of hearing it about.
I'm also disgusted by the tone of the coverage. Why is he being called a 'great American?' I'm not suggesting he's was a bad American but just because he worked in the political arena he's ipso facto a great American? Isn't this setting the bar kind of low?
And what does it mean to be a great American? I will grant you he probably never passed nuclear secrets to the soviets but is that really where we're setting the bar these days? I understand saying he was a great journalist but I think the honorific of great American should be reserved for War Heroes and Civil Rights Leaders.

I'm so freakin' meta
i made a movie about a blog one time. it was called ET and it actually won some pretty big acclaim in the late 80's. I made one of the characters a retarded alien so that the blog references wouldn't be so obvious. But make no mistake about it, my movie ET is heavy into the blogs.
I hear that if you link our blog to Tim Russert's gravestone we can have a chance to win $! - Jeff (Creator of GreatAmericanGraveStones.com)
